Our 20th Annual Spring Camp conference is just around the corner - spread the word and save the date!!

#therippleeffect
#uiucmsaspringcamp15

We're pleased to invite you to the 20th Annual Spring Camp Conference at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by the UIUC MSA. Our conference will be held from April 3rd to April 5th - SAVE THE DATE!!

This year our theme is "The Ripple Effect: Inspiring Society Through Self-Improvement." Our program has the aims of bringing together the internal aspects of worship and those typically seen as external, such as community service and social activism. We hope to highlight the relationship between the internal as well as external aspects of a believer’s journey. The lectures will also present content on improving oneself and purification of the heart and, in turn, how that leads to affecting society in a positive manner as this was exemplified through the Prophet (pbuh). As one strives to improve their internal environment, he or she will inevitably have a beneficial effect on his or her surroundings. As each “ripple” progresses, that effect is larger and more significant.

Aside from lectures, dinners, and a BBQ, we're bringing back our brothers BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT!! It will be held on the nights of Friday April 3rd and Saturday April 4th. Friday will have 3 games to determine seed while Saturday will follow a single elimination bracket. There will be a max of 16 teams. More information in regards to registration will be put up soon!

There will also be Sisters entertainment on the nights of Friday April 3rd and Saturday April 4th!!

Save the date and stay tuned for more details! Please refer back to this page for more information and updates as we get closer to the conference. We look forward to seeing you there inshAllah!

Salaam Allaikum,

Yesterday 3 young Muslims were murdered in North Carolina. These were kids who were our age who had just begun their lives. They had connections to several of our students but more than that they were a very dear part of our Ummah taken from us. Inshallah CAIR UIUC is hosting a vigil this Friday for the victims.

Please just take a minute out of your day to make dua for them and their families and friends and everyone else who was devastated by this tragedy. May Allah SWT grant them Janat al firdaws and grant them the status of martyrs. May he grant their families, friends and community patience and strength to deal with this horrible tragedy.

إنَّما الأعمالُ بالنّيات

Every action we do, whether it be small or big, must be done with the best of intentions. How can we have the best intention, however, if the heart which sets that intention is contaminated?

This problem has always been there, but so has our solution. Purifying out hears is an answer to the struggle of keeping our spiritual life in check. However, cleaning our hearts does a lot for us in our worldly interactions as well.

Come to this week's Halaqa with Brother Farhan Syed right after Maghrib @ CIMIC to learn how the Quran and Sunnah can be applied to our daily lives in our strife in purifying our own hearts.

And of course, pizza will be served!

3:25PM 09, February 2015

Bring your parents down for a dinner to celebrate their contributions. Free to all, the Mom and Dad's Dinner let's us express our gratitude and love to the ones who love us most.

"If you claim to be a believer, expect to be tested."

We all know this, but how do we react when the test is in front of us? Even more difficult is understanding how we should deal with the hardship, and learning how to do so properly despite the sway of our desires.

The life of a college student seems to overflow with various struggles: from succeeding in our academics, to excelling at our organizations, to out-competing our peers, to maintaining the ties we have with our friends.

The stress compiles at a hurried pace, and it seems to hit us at the worst possible times.

But as Muslims, we have the tools to overcome these tests. Come learn new ways to face the hardships that we will all face during our time here in college at the first Ilm Cafe of the semester, this Tuesday, with Dr. Ahmed Taha!

What better way to start the new semester than with the MSA! Join the Muslim Student Association at the Asian American Cultural Center as Mufti Azeemuddin Ahmed discusses how to pursue happiness from an Islamic lens.

A little history on Mufti Azeemuddin Ahmed, he was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. At a very early age he memorized the Holy Qur’an. Mufti Azeemuddin then set out for South Africa to begin a rigorous eight-year alim and ifta course at Darul Uloom Zakariyya in Johannesburg, South Africa. There, he was blessed with the opportunity to study under one of the world’s elite jurists and scholars of hadith, Mufti Rada-ul-Haq, among many other notable scholars of Islam. Following his graduation with top honors from South Africa, Mufti Azeemuddin went on to earn his BA in Psychology from Elmhurst College. He served as the director of AIA Masjid in Frankfort, Illinois from 2006 to 2012.
