Salam RAMADAN MUBARAK!
It's so blessed to have this month take place in the summer and be able to savor more time in self reflection with Allah swt.
This Ramadan let us re-focus fully on our nafs(inner-selves) and up the quality of our worship internally. Most times, we take part in actions we learned as routines and forget to aim for their understanding. We enjoy the food, the company, and instead of a spiritual reawakening, we start to see our worship as only a cultural tradition.
Let's challenge that this ramadan and aim for the soul. Let's strive to make this ramadan less about snap-chatting our food and more about sharing it; less about the decor of our masjids and more about the individuals in it; less about how other people are dressing and more about addressing your heart.
Allah tells us multiple times in the quran "in [His creation] are signs for those who reflect"(45,13; 30,21; etc). May this Ramadan prove to be of intense reflection for all of us. May our fasts, whether we start today to the day after, be of meaning and not just of hunger. Ameen.
Have an awesome Ramadan and keep us all in your duas!
Old shura here (we miss you all so dearly) with an update…
Remember the Fastathon we held in the start of the last academic year?
We got updates!
Hamdilah the funds made it through the red tape and finally to Zakat Foundation; the well-building is about to start.
InshAllah it will be built in Central Ghana and will take 6-9 months to be completed.
Once completed, it will have the Fastathon title along with MSA and ISA's names engraved on it.
SubhanAllah, just like that, the MSA set up a continuous sadaqa source to benefit all of us for years to come.
Thank you for being a part of this and helping in building something so incredible halfway across the world.
The Senior Video 2014 has exported Hamdilah.
A great big thank you to Sidra Ismail and Saher Khan for making it possible.
Congratulations to everyone graduating, you will be missed :'(
Congratulations to the class of 2014!

It was awesome getting together as an MSA to wish the Senior class good-bye. Everyone's messages were so heartfelt and touching (inshAllah we'll link the senior video as soon as its exported).
A huge shoutout to Sidra Ismail, Saher Khan (and the man with-the-plan, Ahmad Shaaban) for respectively producing and successfully screening the senior video.
Yesterday's event also happened to be the new Shura's first. Hamdilah things look great for the MSA in the near future inshAllah. This year has been great; next year will inshAllah be bigger and better.
As for the old Shura, there is so much I'd like to say; however, I can't let this end up becoming a full-fledged blogpost. Therefore, I'll leave you with this parody video/tribute.
It's been real :)
